You might think of corporate development and business development being one and the same, but think of them as being synergistic, rather than synonymous. Corporate development is a combination of the strategies that enhance a company's value and market competitiveness overall, from financial performance to organizational efficiencies. It typically takes the form of corporate restructuring, establishment of strategic partnerships, and mergers/acquisitions (M&A). The end goal is to create a substantially stronger business (or businesses). At the Securieon Group, we love to do just that.
In order to drive successful corporate development, a business must have the following skill sets: financial modeling; corporate valuation; broad executive operational experience; negotiating prowess; risk management; integration for M&As; and vast experience guiding strategic initiatives. Many small to medium-sized companies simply do not have these skill sets in-house, which is where we can deliver significant value. We are management advisors providing corporate development expertise for privately held companies that lack the right internal know-how and need a team that will help them make the most informed investment decisions.
Like awakening a sleeping giant, the Securieon Group was engaged by a once-thriving California-based international food and beverage conglomerate due to our reputation in the industry. After failing to produce results, they looked to us to solicit strategies for renewed growth. Our market trend analysis with subsequent growth strategy opportunities, cost reduction recommendations, and divestiture strategy/restructuring guidance resulted in a successful merger with a larger and highly strategic acquirer within nine months of being engaged.
A multi-million dollar, privately held company in California bleeding cash in a once-profitable division engaged Securieon Group to conduct operational and organizational analyses that revealed a lack of control over inventories, a supplier, and employee exodus. Our hands-on leadership training efforts, along with a course correction of operational efficiencies, resulted in closing the unprofitable division to focus on the more profitable Light Detection and Ranging Technology for driverless cars (LIDAR) division. We engineered a multi-million dollar investment from two US auto companies.
These are just a few illustrations of how we can step in to create innovative and highly successful corporate development strategies that enable all parties involved to benefit more profitably and competitively in reaching compatible, growth-oriented business goals.
We represent a team of former executive operators with multi-industry expertise like Tom Safir, our Director of Corporate Development. As an experienced senior executive, Tom has held leadership roles in M&A, business partnering, acquisition integration, investment banking, finance, technology, manufacturing, strategic planning, business development, contract administration/negotiations and virtually all phases of the transaction lifecycle in formulating and executing strategic plans that improve economic and shareholder value. Tom has an impressive track record of sourcing, executing and completing IPO/M&A transactions totaling $5 billion in value. He earned his MBA from UCLA’s Anderson School of Business and a BS in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut.
If you are a business leader with a need to augment your internal team's bandwidth with corporate development specialists, we invite you to consider the Securieon Group as part of your solution.
